Dr. Moses is originally from Atlanta. She attended Clemson University earning a bachelor of science degree in animal science. After working abroad in New Zealand followed by a couple of years with Clemson Animal Hospital, waiting tables and running her own pet sitting service she saved enough pennies to attend the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation she spent almost a decade in the Akron, OH area where she worked for a very progressive 24/7 multi-doctor practice. This was a valuable experience as it afforded her the luxury of seeing many interesting and unusual cases as well as using all kinds of advanced equipment.
However, returning to relief work while planning for her move back to the southeast made her acutely aware that you can practice great medicine without so many bells and whistles. An engaged mind and talented hands can go a long way in this profession. Dr. Moses moved to Charlotte in 2006 specifically to start a cat hospital. 13 months after arriving in the Queen city she opened the doors of 4 Seasons Cat Hospital. With no pre-existing clients and only a minimal familiarity with Charlotte she assumed all the risks associated with starting a new business to create a calm environment conducive to a cat’s well-being. Finally her professional dream was realized.
By focusing on a single species Dr. Moses can invest all of her continuing education in feline medicine, surgery and behavior. She is very involved in the American Association of Feline Practitioners and its mission to educate both fellow professionals and cat owning clients about feline health. She attends AAFP’s meetings every year. The 2010 Fall meeting was all neurology and ophthomology, 2009 was complex medical diseases and 2011 was a cardiology conference and was combined with the International Society of Feline Medicine. In addition she takes other continuing education classes.
For over 15 years she has shown and bred Maine Coon Cats. She continues to do so but with less frequency. Two of her retired big boys, Marco and Chip, act as the official meet and greet committee for the hospital. Occasionally they share a little blood with a patient when needed. Dr. Moses also loves hiking and exploring the mountains. Dr. Moses' parents live in eastern Tennessee and her brother, sister-n-law, 2 nephews and a niece recently moved back to Atlanta. She enjoys spending time with her family whenever possible.
Dr. Moses has also established the Felines Without Families Fund which provides the financial means for 4 Seasons Cat Hospital to treat sick or injured cats and kittens who have no family to provide for them. She also provides discounted services to the local feline rescue groups when possible.
